Officials in the province of Tierra del Fuego in southern Argentina passed a first-of-its-kind law prohibiting salmon farming in territorial waters. The excessive chemicals and nutrients involved in salmon farming can disrupt the surrounding ecosystem, while escapes can threaten wild salmon populations.
