This morning, Foreign Secretary @aliciabarcena took part in the second Mexico-United States-Canada Trilateral Fentanyl Committee meeting, chaired by the Secretary of @SSPCMexico @rosaicela_ and with the @GobiernoMX security cabinet and the US and Canadian delegations:
“[The second trilateral meeting] is very important because it is the result of a commitment made by the three heads of state,” said Foreign Secretary Bárcena.
At the trilateral meeting, the delegations discussed:
- Emerging trends in synthetic drugs and how to combat them
- Supply chains and private sector participation
- Arms trafficking
- Follow-up to their agreements
She also met with Richard Verma, US Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, at SRE for a productive discussion on bilateral issues such as migration, coordination with UN agencies, security and surveillance and the Global Coalition to Address Synthetic Drug Threats.
