In this opportunity and following the statements by the Chief of the Joint staff of the armed forces, Lieutenant-General Juan Martín Paleo, the general intention is to generate a new strategic planning military that includes the relevance of the Argentine Patagonia, and the presence of the Armed Forces on set in the south. In this sense, it is expected that the Argentine Air Force will advance with new facilities and new areas of deployment in the territory.
Within the strategic planning, there is the idea of the creation of an Advanced Base in Tierra del Fuego by the Air Force, which will work in conjunction with the Integrated Naval Base that will depend on the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Argentine Navy in Ushuaia. It is expected that the Forward Base will be, in the future, in a position to operate different air systems, not only logistics.
As an antecedent to the new strategy of importance in the Argentine south, we can highlight the recent deployment activity of the Twin Otters at the Río Gallegos Military Air Base, with the objective of “increasing the number of liaison flights between the Patagonian communities”.
