Extreme rainfall in Jeddah today! Floods caused by a tremendous storm washed everything away.
Heavy rains slam western Saudi Arabia on Thursday, including the city of Jeddah. As a result, flights are delayed and schools are closed. The administration of the Mecca area issues a statement appealing for people not to go out during the storm. The maximum rainfall quantity recorded in Jeddah’s southern area between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. was 179 millimeters, according to the National Center for Meteorology. Videos posted on social media show water standing in streets and submerged cars.
